India has attacked several targets in Pakistan. According to the Pakistani military, 31 people were killed and 57 injured in air strikes on Tuesday night. Satellite images show where the attacks are believed to have taken place.
According to a military spokeswoman in New Delhi, nine “terrorist camps” were destroyed. The attack was in response to a terrorist attack in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir. Twenty-six people were killed in the terrorist attack in April. The Indian government accuses Pakistan of being involved in the attack. However, Pakistan denies this. Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar wrote on X that the world must not show any tolerance toward terrorism. He posted a picture with the caption “Operation Sindoor.”
Sindoor is the red powder that Hindu women apply to their foreheads or hairline to indicate that they are married. “Currently, ‘Sindoor’ is a symbol for the widows of the attack two weeks ago in the Indian part of Kashmir,” writes Deutsche Welle.
The Pakistani military is using X to highlight its own attacks and boast that it shot down five Indian fighter jets.
The attacks took place in and around the Kashmir region. The region is disputed between India, Pakistan, and China. The targets can be located based on information provided by the military. Nathan Ruser, an analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, published the geocoordinates of the targets on X.
